Return Activated Sludge 101 Cloud Based

In the activated sludge process return activated sludge control and its impacts on other process control paraments, e.g. settling characteristics, sludge age is critical. The methods for determining the return activated sludge flow rates are explained and the mathematics of calculations are demonstrated. The purpose of the course is to expose the operator the different ways the return sludge flow rate can be determined so that the operator can better control the activated sludge process. Clarifier Performance Evaluation Using Cloud Based State Point Analysis

The State Point Analysis is a practical tool that can be used to perform a "what if" analysis based on site specific data. It enables Operators to examine clarifier behavior under various flow and loading scenarios. Utilizing the SPA Operators can predict impending problems early, implement corrective measures in a timely fashion, and adapt to upstream changes in the biological process. State point analysis can be used to determine if a secondary clarifier is overloaded, critically loaded, or underloaded with respect to both its clarification and thickening capabilities.

State Point Analysis is not an "all in one" solution. Does not consider sludge blanket elevation or volume of solids in clarifier. As the name implies, this is a measurement of a particular "state."

Equalization Basin Operation 101

Duration: 3 Hours

The goal of this course is to demonstrate the key role that wastewater equalization plays in the wastewater treatment process. The roles of the influent hydrograph, basin sizing capacity, flow dampening, pollutant dampening are demonstrated in the course. Examples of mathematical applications for sizing validation, operation and optimization are demonstrated and explained via spreadsheet and cloud-based applications. The importance of equalization on downstream wastewater treatment processes is detailed.
